授業の概要 | High impact presentations are well remembered and delivering such effective presentation provides the competitive edge for students. This course is designed to boost the confidence of the students in the presentations. Students will learn a series of presentation techniques through practical activities and different types of presentation methods. Students will also learn how to adopt a personal presentation style and how to engage with the audience effectively. During this course, students will learn how to overcome their problems in the presentations to deliver high impact presentations that meet the objectives and bring results. |

学修の目的 | To build presentations that create maximum impact. Use a structured presentation methodology with useful visual aids. Find ways to overcome nervousness, control voice, use eye contacts, and body language during a presentation. Determine and develop personal presentation style, and recognize weak points and areas for improvement. Practice presentations with the acquired skills to deliver effective presentations and to handle the audience with confidence. |
学修の到達目標 | Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: • Organize a presentation that has an impact and to present professionally and confidently, and interact well with the audience. • Produce and use visual aids to be interested and enhance the presentation. • Learn the best ways to interact, and the audience handles challenging individuals. • Use effective techniques to improve personal presentation style • Successfully deliver the organized presentation with key messages to small or large groups. |

授業改善の工夫 | Students are expected to speak freely in English during the class. Making mistakes is not a big deal. Don't laugh at other students mistakes. Lecturers speak slowly and clearly which enable students to understand accurately. Students receive feedback on their current presentation style and ideas to enhance them. Lecture contents are subject to change slightly following the ability of students. |

学修内容 | Both individual and group presentations are conducted. Students are divided into groups including 3~5 members. Each member should do their presentation around 10 min using various methods such as powerpoint or poster. Students in the audience should ask creative and logical questions from the presenters related to the content of the presentation. Presenters get the feedback from teachers and audience to improve their presentations further. 第1回:Guidance: explanation about the aim of the course, contents of lectures, course materials, and the evaluation and grading system, etc. 第2回:Effective presentation skills: tips and techniques,and ethics. 第3回:Brief introduction of individual research or a desired scientific topic by the students, using the blackboard. Guide to review scientific literature and gather supporting information. 第4回: Present a summary of gathered information by the students using the blackboard, and determine the relevant information to their presentation topics. 第5回: Consideration of oral presentations: Purpose, organization, flow, and style of the topics of interest. 第6回:Guide to add visual aids, practice speed, stress, and pronuniciation. 第7回:Individual or group presentation using PowerPoint and feedback. 第8回:Individual or group presentation using PowerPoint and feedback. 第9回:Introduction on how to prepare a poster based on scientific information. 第10回: Preparation of posters by students as groups or as individual work. 第11回:Introduction on how to do an oral presentation based on the prepared poster. 第12回:Perform the oral presentation by students as groups or as individual presenter using the prepared poster. 第13回:Introduction on how to do the oral presentation using blackboard. 第14回:Perform aural presentation by students using the blackboard individually based on any general information. 第15回:Perform oral presentation by students using blackboard individually based on scientific information. 第16回:No end semester examination. |
事前・事後学修の内容 | Doing well in this course will help the students to make effective presentations in other classes where presentations are required. Attending every class well prepared and active participation in class activities are highly recommended. |
