授業の概要 | The course introduces the theories and practice of translation. Students will practice translating from Japanese to English while learning about the translation theories that guide professional translators. |

学習の目的 | This course will provide an understanding of translation as an everyday practice as well as the theories that are the basis for translation studies. |

学習内容 | This class will cover both theory and practice. The class will cover the practical skills and tools (such as CAT tools) used in translation today. It will also cover the main theories of translation, including equivalence as well as functionalist theories. Finally, the class will introduce concepts in new forms of translation, such as audiovisual translation, localization, and collaborative translation. |
学習課題(予習・復習) | Students will do weekly translation assignments as well as a final translation project. |
