学習の目的と方法

授業の概要	This is an advanced level course focused on the process of writing, and on the linguistic skills needed to describe, to narrate, to persuade and to explain things in writing. Written English differs from the spoken language - it is not spontaneous and needs to be edited, reviewed , revised, and reconsidered.
学習の目的
学習の到達目標	Students will get lots of practice in composing thoughts into comprehensible English in different types of writing; formal and informal, descriptive and narrative and also in peer editing, reviewing and creating a final composition from a first draft.

受講要件	Composing written work is largely a solitary occupation so students will need to have a mature, responsible attitude, and be capable of working alone and completing assigned work on time and in an acceptable form.

授業改善への工夫	Students are granted considerable autonomy in this course, and are also encouraged to go beyond the bare minimum required for each writing project. They have an opportunity to produce their own English, and should not be afraid of making mistakes.

事前・事後学修の内容	Each class covers a new step in the process of creating a composition. Most classes also contain a period of peer editing which requires students to assist each other. Missing a class will adversely affect the other students and leave the absentee 1 step behind the others so regular attendance is vital.
