(Course description/outline)
In the seminar, attendees are expected to read and study the latest literature on functional biochemistry and the topics related to students’ themes for their own master thesis, partly discussing these topics from an engineering aspect. In addition, attendees will also be expected to report their progressing work and further discuss its significance and importance in their work on the basis of the knowledge acquired in this seminar.

(Learning objectives)
In the seminar, students will learn how to read/study the articles in English. It is potentially required for attendees to critically read and understand the latest literature on related fields of functional biochemistry.

(Achievements)
After completion of this course, attendees are expected to have learned how to read scientific articles, how to interpret them comprehensively and logically, and how to have a scientific discussion.

(Course contents)
Students must read some latest articles about the topics of the aforesaid keywords and report the contents using PowerPoint slides every week. If you are not assigned to have a presentation, students are strongly encouraged to have a discussion with those who are assigned to have a presentation.

(Contents for pre and post studies)
- Students assigned to have a presentation are encouraged to read additional related articles before the class.
- It is necessary to check latest contents of various scientific journals using public sites of open library databases as well as those which are provided by the university.
- If you are not able to answer questions your peers give, you will be encouraged to check them and have answers on the questions.
- Reading the literature, you are preferably expected to consider what is unknown, new, and remains to be revealed.
- All attendees are strongly encouraged to have questions on the presentations without any hesitation.
